Named after the Russian word ‘Kalinka’ symbolising their national culture, this Flag Island weekend festival, which ended recently was a truly unique showcase of the rich musical and dance traditions of two Eurasian nations, Russia and Kazakhstan.

Families, children and audiences alike from different nationalities and backgrounds came together to enjoy spectacular performances by several reputable artists.

In a vibrant atmosphere and through a series of top-quality performances, Kalinka offered visitors an excellent opportunity to learn about the arts and folk heritage of both of countries, in the great outdoor setting of The Flag Island – one of Sharjah’s outdoor picturesque destinations.
