Youth Can Now Create Space-Inspired Stop Motion Films At This Virtual Summer Camp
With UAE’s successful space mission setting fire to the imagination of the nation’s youth, FUNN – Sharjah Media Arts for Youth and Children is giving children a chance to pay their tributes by creating a stop motion film celebrating the event.
FUNN is calling on young media arts enthusiasts 12 – 15 years old to enroll in a 5-day virtual summer camp in Arabic titled ‘Let’s go to space’, from August 9 – 13, 10 to 11 am, via Zoom video conferencing. The session is being organized as part of the annual FUNN-tastic Summer Camp.
Emirati digital artist AyshaSaif Al Hemrani, popularly known as @Mnawrah, will guide participants step-by-step at this free-to-attend workshop to create space set-up props and shoot a stop motion film on their smart devices with the help of an app.
On Day 1, participants will learn how to create a space backdrop using their laptops or smart devices. On Days 2 and 3, they will create the Hazza rocket and some props symbolising the Hope Mission, as well as a dummy astronaut. The fourth session will teach them how to use a stop motion smart application and will include a 30-second challenge. Day 5 will be spent reviewing the participants’ efforts.
All participants will require three ordinary lead pencils, three sheets of A4-size paper, a crayon colouring set, sticking tape and a pair of scissors to create the props, and must download the Stop Motion Studio app on their mobile device.
