Young Enthusiasts Take First Steps Into The World Of Animation At FUNN’s Virtual Workshop
A creatively enthusiastic group of children took their first steps into the world of animation filmaking at an online workshop organised recently by FUNN – the Sharjah-based organisation dedicated to promoting and supporting media arts learning among children and youth.
Led by popular Emirati animator and multimedia trainer,Jamila Ibrahim Al Mualla, HCT graduate, Majored in Applied Communications – Media, specialized in Social Media and provides multimedia & creative workshops, the enthusiastic young participants were first introduced to the basics of animation, and later how to use advanced software applications to produce professional-looking movies.
First, Ibrahim took the children through the various steps of creating basic drawings. This was followd by the expert animator introducing the workshop’s participants to the Photoshop software and explained its practical applications that includes editing and manipulation of images.
The children were given tips on creating interesting characters, and how to sketch them to create a sense of motion. She also taught them how to use the iMovie programme to animate their drawings and bring life to their characters.
The participants also learnt from Ibrahim’s animation work that were screened at the workshop. She showed them through step-by-step analysis each aspect of the animation and how the effects had been achieved while maintaining the aesthetic quotient.
FUNN, a Sharjah-based organisation dedicated to promoting and supporting media arts learning among children and youth in the UAE, also organises the Sharjah International Film Festival for Children and Youth (SIFF), one of the most anticipated cultural events in the emirate.
