‘The Platform’ At Al Majaz Is The Perfect Way To Begin This Weekend
Perk up your weekend with a well-deserved evening of music, melody and a healthy dose of laughter, as ‘The Platform’, a first-of-its-kind comedy and entertainment roadshow in the region, gears up to launch its second weekend of more 10 entertainment performances at the Al Majaz Waterfront on November 7 – 8, after a cracking inaugural in Al Qasba last weekend.
Set against the backdrop of a majestic water fountain, the scenic charm of the Al Majaz Waterfront will come alive with a laugh-out-loud night of live English comedy and some pulsating music from 8.30pm to 10.30pm as home-grown talents in the UAE take to the stage to showcase their varied artistic prowess.
Catch some peppy tunes on Thursday, November 7, as Emirati guitarist Brshawe together with his compatriot and singer Hammany belt out their favourite Arabic numbers, especially melodious ballads.
19-year-old singer and guitarist Khubi Aly, who goes by the stage name – Khubi and is heavily inspired by contemporary pop, will present the electric renditions of some of his current favourite artists including The Weeknd, Bruno Mars and Zayn Malik.
A vocalist from Kyrgyzstan, Begimay Abdysamatova, will present a musical medley of ballads, R&B, pop and classical crossover songs in English, French, Russian and Kyrgyz languages while the strong vocals of 19-year-old cover-artist Siobhan will captivate the audience late into the night.
On Friday, November 8, six superb stand-up comedians will take the stage to entertain Sharjah’s and the UAE’s humour-loving crowds. Presenting their acts at Al Majaz includes a diverse set of stand-up comedians such as Egyptian-Greek Mohammed Aly Momos, Emarati comedian Abdullah Ali (Abz), Osman Rohil and Joe Sayar who’s an engineer by day and a comedian by night.
‘The Platform’, a cultural initiative of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), marked its debut at Al Qasba on 31st October, attracting an audience of diverse age groups and nationalities. Musical concerts featured chart-topping rap music from Brazilian Jordanian singer Amin Joumah a.k.a. ‘Reazon’; a Western and Arabic fusion presentation by Ahmed Elngome; and singer/songwriter and music producer Shabi Ali’s pop music and tender romantic ballads.
Stand-up comedy artists including UAE nationals Abdullah Al Qassab and Abdullah Ali (Abz) together with Mohammed Aly Momos and Yusuf El Kott, left the audience at Al Qasba in stitches of laughter with their hilarious take on everyday events and social gaffes.
Next week, ‘The Platform’ will conclude its 2019 session at the Heart of Sharjah where it will vow audiences from November 14 to 15 with a new cast of performers and artists.
