Fitness and enjoyment are the key elements at ‘Ramadan Sports Hour’, which is in its third consecutive year. The community programme is showing the Sharjah residents and visitors that workouts can be fun.

In just a week, The Flag Island, a picturesque outdoor destination, is attracting people across age groups to this month-long fitness event, who are coming together actively, to partake in the event’s comprehensive programme themed, ‘My Health in My Sports’ in collaboration with Al Zahra Hospital, Sharjah, and Fitness First.

From Pilates lessons, power-packed yoga classes, boxing training, to high-energy boot camp style workouts, the dynamic programme is designed to set health and fitness activities within people’s daily routines. The idea is to devote at least one hour to sports and exercise to reenergise especially during fasting.

The event is also offering free health check-ups, Body Mass Index (BMI) tests, blood sugar and blood pressure tests before Iftar and nutrition tips from experts. In addition, ‘Ramadan Aman’, a campaign by Al Ihsan Charity Association distributing Iftar Boxes to the attendees after the workout.

Throughout the Holy Month, visitors can participate in the sports hour at 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., every Monday. More information on the social media handle, @TheFlagIsland.
