Adding a new, exciting dimension to the ongoing exhibition celebrating the life and works of Gibran Khalil Gibran, the House of Wisdom (HoW) in Sharjah has announced two artistic workshops on that will not only enable participants to hone their skills in writing and performing arts, but also allow them a unique opportunity to connect with one of the 20th century’s most prominent global figures on a deeper level.

Epistolary writing workshop

Drawing inspiration from the celebrated book The Blue Flame, a collection of letters written by Khalil Gibran to May Ziada professing his love for her, this workshop, to be held on September 18, 2:00 – 4:00 pm, will be an opportunity to explore and analyse the craft of epistolary writing. The Blue Flamereveals the eloquence and beauty of Gibran’s writing in a form and style that is both profoundly personal and emotionally evocative. Participants will read excerpts from the book to inspire them to compose their own letters. The workshop will be in Arabic.

Theatre workshop

Calling aspiring actors and also those who want to hone their stage craft! Through this workshop, to be held on September 25,2:00 – 4:00 pm, participants will explore various techniques of dialogue delivery and performing on stage. They will choose an excerpt from Khalil Gibran’smasterpiece, The Prophet, and perform the piece on stage for an audience.This workshop will be conducted in English.

Khalil Gibran exhibition drawing capacity crowds

HoW’slatest exhibition titled ‘A Window to the Soul: Gibran Khalil Gibran’, continues to draw capacity audience. Showcasing the globally loved and respected Gibran Khalil Gibran’s life and invaluable contributions as a visual artist through 34 of his original works, the exhibition runs for four months until January 6, 2022.

Among the highlights of ‘A Window to the Soul: Gibran Khalil Gibran’ are 15 never-before-seen works, displayed alongside the artist’s rare oil and gauche, and watercolour works, as well as his charcoal sketches. There are also a number of Gibran’s personal belongings on display, including four manuscript notebooks, a watercolour set and an easel. Furthermore, the galley and plate proofs of his most well-known book, The Prophet, are on view.
