In line with the national efforts introduced to combat the spread of COVID-19, Sharjah Taxi in conjunction with the Sharjah Co-operative Society dropped off over 4,000 deliveries, of orders placed by customers on the latter’s online platform in the past two months.

Mohammed Al Buraimi, Executive Director of Operations Sector, Sharjah Taxi said: “These orders are delivered adhering to the highest standards of safety and precaution required to prevent the spread of the virus. Our team ensures that each order is individually sanitised and delivered to the customer.”

Al Buraimi said that participating in such efforts aligns with Sharjah Taxi’s corporate social responsibility, of contributing to worthy initiatives that could help reach out to those in need.

He further added that the delivery initiative was introduced in support of the “Stay at Home,” campaign that urged people to stay at home for safety. It also aimed to support Sharjah Co-operative Society who were responsible for delivering the orders.

Since the outbreak of the virus, Sharjah Co-operative Society has witnessed a tremendous increase in online and phone orders. Once made, the orders are then packed and sterilised ready for delivery to the customer. While handling deliveries, Sharjah Taxi ensures that each driver is trained to follow the necessary precautionary measures including wearing masks, gloves, sterilising parcels and cleaning the car as often as possible.

Prior to participating in this particular initiative, Sharjah Taxi has ensured that its fleet of drivers are equipped with the necessary safety gear before they start the delivery service. To ensure they remain motivated and continue to offer their services diligently, these drivers will be honored at an annual private ceremony for all their efforts and contributions.
