Sharjah Children Biennial (SCB), the international cultural and artistic event dedicated to children and organised by Sharjah Children, a subsidiary of Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, donated AED 63,525 to The Big Heart Foundation (TBHF). SCB offered its fifth edition art works for sale in a series of charity auctions that took place in Sharjah, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.

Sharjah Children Biennial dedicated the proceedings of its charity auctions of young artists’ artworks, who participated in its fifth edition, to support refugee children at Al Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan through The Big Heart Foundation. This initiative aligns with SCB’s efforts to advocate humanitarian causes, instill in children the values of giving, and reinforce the responsibility of giving back to community.

SCB’s first charity auction was held during its participation in ‘Abu Dhabi Art’ in November 2017, where 38 artworks were sold. Additionally, in February 2018, 18 paintings were auctioned at ‘The Workshop Dubai’ and proceeds were donated to The Big Heart Foundation and Dar Al Ber Society in Dubai. The last auction took place in Sharjah in cooperation with Paper Fig Restaurant and 12 works were sold during Eid Al Fitr.

Aisha Ali Al Kaabi, Acting Director of Sharjah Children, stressed that the charity auctions align with SCB’s efforts to highlight the importance of giving. SCB is committed to donate the proceeds of its charity auctions to support children causes every year.

The fifth edition of SCB organized artistic workshops for children at Zaatari refugee camp in Jordan and Dar Zayed Orphanage in the Republic of Maldives. The workshops aimed at encouraging young artists to unleash their imagination and creativity through art.

Mariam Al Hammadi, Director of The Big Heart Foundation, praised Sharjah Children Biennial’s initiative to support people in need. She said that this type of initiative is a top priority on Sharjah’s agenda and a core component of the UAE vision to promote a culture of giving and instill noble values in society members.

Themed ‘A World as Big as Your Imagination’, the fifth edition of SCB received entries from 785 children from around the world, including refugee children at Al Zaatari camp, and the Dar Zayed Orphanage in the Republic of Maldives, who submitted 376 artworks in three categories: Environment, Architecture Design and Fantasy and Reality.
