Sahara Centre Visitors Inspired By Artwork By Mawaheb Students
Sahara Centre, Sharjah’s leading retail, leisure and dining destination, joined hands with Mawaheb from Beautiful People, an art studio for the determined ones, aged from 16 years, to celebrate the Holy Month of Ramadan, with a colourful initiative that not only celebrated the Year of Tolerance marked by the UAE this year, but also highlighted the value of art in bringing together people and communities.
As part of the initiative, students of Mawaheb from Beautiful People painted the logo of the Year of Tolerance on a large canvas in the mall. They were accompanied by volunteers and the Mawaheb team, alongside a delegation from Indefinite Arts, Calgary, Canada. On completion of the painting, the students were treated by Sahara Centre to an Eid clothes shopping spree at Matalan, followed by Iftar at Russo’s New York Pizzeria.
Akram Ammar, Managing Director of Sahara Centre, said: “As the UAE marks the Year of Tolerance and in line with the spirit of togetherness and generosity during the Holy Month of Ramadan, we are delighted to partner with Mawaheb from Beautiful People to support the students in expressing their creativity. This reflects our mission to bring joy to the community, and to create platforms for people of determination to highlight their talents.”
Wemmy de Maaker, Founder and Managing Director at Mawaheb from Beautiful People, added: “We are thankful to Sahara Centre for the opportunity to highlight the creative talent of our students. The initiative, coinciding with the Holy Month of Ramadan and the Year of Tolerance, highlights the power of art to bring the community together. Through this artistic activity, the students further underlined the message of tolerance and acceptance of all, which is central to an inclusive community.”
