Continuing its efforts to support the UAE government’s distance learning initiative launched to curb the spread of coronavirus, Lughati has collaborated with the Sharjah Center for Learning Difficulties to offer it’s students 25 smart tablets to ensure their learning continuity at home until the nation overcomes this health crisis.

The Sharjah-based initiative dedicated to empowering the national Arabic curriculum with smart learning tools, Lughati distributed 13,000 smart tablets to primary-level students in public schools in Sharjah last month, to be utilised to implement the Ministry of Education (MoE)’s distance learning initiative.

Badria Al Ali, Manager of Lughati, said: “This initiative stems from our belief in being able to exercise the right to education even in trying circumstances. Education is key to people’s and a nation’s future and must not be compromised at any cost. As the world faces an unprecedented crisis, we need to make our best efforts to develop plans that will protect this right, and enable the maximum number of students the opportunity to continue learning from their home until they can return to school. This was our objective behind contributing 25 smart tablets to Sharjah Center for Learning Difficulties. With this, we reiterate our commitment to the future of our children, as well as our support to the UAE’s distance learning strategy.”

Dr. Hanadi Al Suwaidi, Director of the Sharjah Centre for Learning Difficulties, thanked the Lughati Initiative and expressed her appreciation for its contribution to encouraging virtual learning. She said it reflected on the joint cooperation between the two institutions and aligned with UAE’s efforts to stimulate learning, particularly in this trying period when the UAE is making tremendous efforts to contain the spread of the novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

She emphasised that this was not the first collaboration between the centre and Lughati. The latest effort is a result of the strategic cooperation between the entities which are keen on furthering social cohesion and solidarity, in line with the directives of UAE’s wise leadership.

Sharjah Center for Learning Difficulties began rolling out remote learning programmes for their students by the end of March to ensure their safety and continuity of learning from home through live online sessions. The center’s staff continues to perform all their work functions remotely.
