International Bands Treat Visitors To Al Majaz Waterfront With Foot Tapping Tunes
In what visitors witnessed last evening at Al Majaz Waterfront was part of a series of entertaining musical performances by popular international musical outfits – the Latin Street Band, Trio Allegria, and Nina & The Guitar Player – will go on throughout the duration of the Sharjah World Music Festival 2017 (SWMF 2017) organised by Furat Qaddouri Music Centre and sponsored by Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), up until 14th January.
Visitors to this leading leisure destination in the emirate, which becomes even more popular during these months with fantastic weather, were seen jiving to a spectacular world music feast created by these artists, who blended tango, jazz, oriental, Caribbean and Latin American beats to create a unique medley of signature sounds.
Trio Allegria from Ukraine featured three female musicians on the flute, violin and cello, who performed a series of fusion compositions blending jazz and Arabic music as well as Tango, classic and flamenco. They also received special appreciation from the audience with famous Lebanese singer Fairouz’s popular Arabic songs.
The Latin Street Band have come all the way from Cuba and Colombia, whose sizzling Caribbean tunes and dancing took viewers through the narrow streets of Latin America. The performers had their viewers cheer with excitement and joy as they shared their street-style performances on Al Majaz waterfront walkways.
Nina and the Guitar Player from Lebanon played nostalgic oriental music combining classical Arabic music and soothing guitar chords. Their performance included popular Arabic compositions by Fairouz’s, Ziad Al Rahbani, and old classical gems by Um Kulthum. The band’s beautiful music and Nina’s golden voice left the audience mesmerised.
In case you were unable to catch these great performances last night, do not be a tiny bit upset because these artists will be giving four more performances at the Al Qasba from 6pm to 10pm on 10th, 12th and 14th January! Their performances will also be featured at Al Majaz Waterfront 11th and 13th at the same time.
All these performances are free for general public and do not require any admission tickets or fee.
Music enthusiasts and visitors to Al Majaz will have also the opportunity to meet Elena Dueto from Ukraine, Tarabich from Syria, and Drums of Love – an international band percussions band – during the course of SWMF 2017.
