Heart Of Sharjah Hosts Kuwait National Day Celebrations
The “Heart of Sharjah” hosted a special celebration for the 59th Kuwaiti National Day yesterday (Friday, February 28) in a reflection of the strong relations between the United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.
The quaint Souq Al Shanasiyah in Heart of Sharjah formed the backdrop for a host of events and family-oriented activities for visitors and residents which offered an insight into Kuwait’s and the Gulf region’s rich traditions and shared cultural values.
The special celebrations were held in the presence of H.E. Marwan bin Jassim Al Sarkal, Executive Chairman of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), and the Consul General of Kuwait, H.E. Theyab Farhan Al Rashidi.
Representatives of the Kuwaiti club, a cultural organisation at the American University of Sharjah, and members from the University of Sharjah and Ajman University participated in the events. Exciting workshops for visitors of all ages were led by Bait al Naboodah Museum. 60 children from Kalba, Khorffakan and Riqqa Children’s Center in Sharjah was another prominent entity at the event while Air Arabia was the chief sponsor.
Together with the collaborating organisations, Heart of Sharjah designed a packed itinerary comprising of cultural performances, a variety of fun and educational workshops for children, traditional Kuwaiti games, and various competitions.
A lucky visitor won two free air tickets to Kuwait in a raffle draw sponsored by the event’s official carrier, Air Arabia.
Visitors also had the opportunity to sample a variety of traditional foods and beverages on the special joyous occasion.
