‘Go Blue Sharjah’ Celebrates 30th Anniversary Of The Convention On The Rights Of The Child
To mark the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the United Nations’ Convention on the Rights of the Child, the Sharjah Baby Friendly Office (SBFO) has launched an awareness campaign titled ‘Go Blue Sharjah’ as part of UNICEF’s ‘Go Blue’ campaign where buildings and landmarks around the world are lit up in blue in support of child’s rights.
Since yesterday (Thursday), many cultural and tourist attractions in Sharjah have been adorned in blue including Al Majaz Amphitheatre, 1971 Design Space and the world’s 7th tallest flag pole at the Flag Island, Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Musical Fountain at Al Majaz Waterfront and Sharjah Municipality.
The three-day ‘Go Blue Sharjah’ campaign concludes Saturday, November 23.
The campaign coincides with the launch of the second edition of the two-day Sharjah Carnival for Children and Youth that commenced Thursday at the picturesque Al Majaz Amphitheatre Island, attracting a heavy footfall of children, families and school visits.
Themed ‘Children’s Rights Island’, the island was transformed into a child-friendly edutainment zone filled with musical performances, games and painting workshops, and plastic arts. Murals, artworks and interactive platforms also helped highlight children’s rights.
In 1996, the UAE ratified the UN’s Convention on the Rights of the Child.
