FUNN Nurtures Creative Young Minds With Two Specialised Media Arts Workshops
Committed to enhancing the intellectual and artistic creativity of students by nurturing their natural talents, FUNN – Sharjah Media Arts For Youth and Children, held two workshops for children aged 12+ in collaboration with Apple store.
The workshops, held recently, were designed to nurture the future generation of creative artists in the field of media and films.
FUNN is an organisation established under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Al Qasimi, wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah, to promote and support the media arts (animation, filmmaking, graphic design, etc.) for young children and the youth of Sharjah and UAE.
The Photo Walk Framing Architecture workshop enabled participants to discover new ways of photographing buildings by emphasising architectural details and other elements of the structures with their iPhones or iPads. Students learnt how to combine angles and lines to create perspective, add textures and shapes to bring out details, anticipate light and conceptualise architectural compositions.
Recommended for all skill levels, iPhone and iPad devices were provided for those participants who did not have their own gadgets.
The second workshop, children learnt how to create imaginative videos with the illusion of teleporting, disappearing, and other visual tricks in the workshop titled ‘Video Lab Creating Small Screen Magic inspired by Zack King.
Using recording and editing techniques inspired by video-maker Zach King, young children learnt how to create a “jump cut” scene that brings magic and storytelling to any video using the Clips app. Children were equipped with the latest iPhone for this session.
FUNN holds several media production workshops annually to promote creativity amongst the young generation and encourage them to pursue the study of media and cinema.
