The Xposure International Photography Festival, held in Sharjah, has long been a platform for photographers, artists, and enthusiasts to come together and celebrate the art of capturing moments. On its fifth day, Fujifilm Middle East organised a session that was not to be missed. The session, titled “Makeup and Photography,” brought together two of the most talented artists in the industry – makeup artist Anna and photographer Mona Manushi.

Held at the Stage-X platform, this session was a unique opportunity for attendees to learn from the best. The objective of the session was to demonstrate the best tools and techniques for achieving a flawless look for photography. The event kicked off with a live makeup tutorial, where Anna revealed her secret tricks for creating a stunning glam soft makeup look. This was followed by a detailed demonstration of the steps involved in the process of photography makeup, from preparation to setting the skin.

The second half of the session was dedicated to Manushi, who shared her extensive knowledge on capturing the best makeup photographs. The photographer dispelled the popular myth that strong lighting is the only way to deliver beautiful photos. “In my work, I use different types of lighting, I work with the shadow and moody lighting as well, I would also recommend working with natural light”, she said. She stressed the importance of pointing artificial lights towards the middle of the eyes to accentuate facial features.

Manushi emphasised the crucial role that photographers play in discussing the right makeup looks for models with clients. “The client sometimes asks for styles that look great on paper but may not have the features to compliment them,” she said. Manushi encouraged photographers to take a proactive approach in ensuring that the selected looks suit the features of the models.

The session concluded with practical advice and insights on how to create stunning photography through the art of makeup. The Stage-X sessions will be accessible until the 15th of February at the Expo Centre Sharjah, providing attendees with an opportunity to delve deeper into the world of photography and makeup artistry.
