Small flowers of children dressed in traditional attire, carrying gift bags and sweets, walked in unison with the muttawa (the leader) singing folk songs to announce the start of the celebration for the Night of the 15th of Sha’ban, as a grand celebration was held in honor of Haq Al-Laila during Sharjah Heritage Days. The event saw active participation and interaction from families, children, and guests, all excited to celebrate the occasion.

The children participating in Haq Al-Laila earned the admiration of the audience as they sang some of the famous songs associated with the occasion.

Some members of the audience also joined the procession and sang along with the children on the event grounds, carrying expressions of admiration and joy, reflecting the happiness that surrounded the event.

Khawla Mubarak Al-Ghafli, from the Events and Activities Department at the Sharjah Institute for Heritage, responsible for organizing the event, stated: “The Haq Al-Laila celebration, which takes place annually on the 15th of Sha’ban, is an important occasion for children where they learn many local values, including welcoming the month of Ramadan and adhering to its laws and virtues. It also teaches important societal values such as fellowship, love, and tolerance, which help instill these values in them as they grow, contributing to the development of authentic generations.”

The “Mahra Workshops” were another highlight of the event. The Sharjah Heritage Days dedicated a special corner for Haq Al-Laila, which attracted a large crowd. The tradition of distributing Sha’ban gifts to children and visitors brought an atmosphere of joy, enhanced by the children’s traditional clothing and jewelry, further lifting the festive spirit.

The moving train, another feature of the Haq Al-Laila celebration, gathered dozens of children and families for a fun tour around the event area. Visitors were able to see the various aspects of Sharjah Heritage Days, including the traditional Arshan (palm-leaf shelters) and local environments. This experience provided a double sense of joy, happiness, and love, strengthening community ties and fostering harmony among its members.

Alya, the beloved local character for children, was also one of the main attractions of the celebration. She contributed to decorating the atmosphere with her traditional attire and wave, gathering many children and visitors to take commemorative photos, creating a unique and unforgettable experience. This added to the admiration deserved by Sharjah Heritage Days.
