Badiri Education and Development Academy, the education and capacity building arm of NAMA Women Advancement Establishment (NAMA), and the U.S. Consulate General in Dubai are organising a 90-minute virtual talk titled ‘The Future of Entrepreneurship Post COVID-19’, next Wednesday on May 27, from 7:30 pm to 9:00pm.

The session will be led by Greta Schettler, CEO and founder of Equal Up Strategies, and focus on answering pressing questions entrepreneurs and small business owners in the UAE have about the future of their enterprises. The speaker will share key insights on such topics as how entrepreneurs will survive this period, how aspirants can start their businesses with limited resources and support, among others.

The discussion will highlight the important role of the youth in the entrepreneurship and innovation, and Schettler, who has dedicated her career to generating economic and business growth by increasing equal opportunity, will offer tips and examples of how entrepreneurs can use this time to find creative solutions.

Commenting on the talk U.S. Consul General Philip Frayne said: “The U.S. Consulate in Dubai is excited to be partnering with NAMA and the Badiri Academy to bring Greta Schettler to speak to women entrepreneurs in the UAE.  Greta will talk about innovation and challenging the status-quo, two directions becoming more and more important with the changes brought on by the current pandemic. We will need many innovative ideas if we are to emerge post-COVID 19 stronger and smarter. And we believe women entrepreneurs can offer a unique perspective that will define the future of entrepreneurship.”

On her part Dr. Mona Al Ali, Manager of BadiriEducation and Development Academy said: “In continuing with its mission to empower community through learning and knowledge exchange, Badiri is organising this talk to present innovative solutions and action-oriented ideas the UAE’s and the global entrepreneurial community can apply to navigate the difficult challenges that COVID-19 presents, and build back better. The talk’s attendees will also be able to listen in on the new and emerging trends in the current business environment, and learn how some businesses are transitioning to successfully operate during COVID-19.”

As the senior program officer for Gender Equality Policy, Advocacy and Communications at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Greta will also be shining the spotlight on the importance of women entrepreneurs, and offer key insights on how a supportive entrepreneurial community can be created for them to succeed.

While the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic has disrupted life and economy in unprecedented ways, the global crisis is also serving as a catalyst for entrepreneurship. From developing contact tracing apps to creating makeshift hospitals, entrepreneurs globally have taken a leading role in fighting the pandemic. The crisis has essentially turned into an opportunity to broaden entrepreneurial horizons like never before.
