Running up on the International Government Communication Forum (IGCF 2021) stage with the familiar enthusiasm that has earned Ahmed El Ghandour over five million followers on YouTube, the Egyptian science nerd brought a smile to the faces of his fans as he effortlessly simplified the concept of ‘Delivering the Truth in Communications’ during an inspirational talk on the forum’s second and concluding day (Monday).

Turning the spotlight on how important it is to convey the truth in communications in simple and digestible format, Ghandour aka ‘Al Daheeh’, stressed on continuing efforts to utilise the truth to shape public opinion and facilitate public life.

During his presentation, ‘Al Daheeh’ impressed the audience with his witty take on how complex and seemingly alien academic concepts can be understood and implemented to convey the truth if presented in a more user-friendly manner, through the various techniques of drama, comedy, graphics and animation. He also stressed on the importance of why innovation should be treated as a continuing priority.

“We should always seek out the truth because it matters. However, we should understand that in seeking it, we need to work in cooperation to obtain it. In addition, truth also needs to be accompanied by good communication,” said the biology graduate who has made a name for himself with his YouTube series ‘El Daheeh’.

Via a thoroughly entertaining talk, El Ghandour shared the relevance of three key tools or factors that facilitate one’s quest to find and preserve the truth, namely, home economics, choice architecture and libertarian paternalism. He further took note of the importance of governments offering continuous assistance in the overall effort to uphold and deliver truth.
