The Friends of Breastfeeding Association of the Health Promotion Department at the Supreme Council for Family Affairs in Sharjah, in cooperation with the Breastfeeding clinic at the Family Health Promotion Center in Sharjah, has recently launched the initiative “Your support …. our priority”.

The initiative aims to provide mothers infected with the new coronavirus (COVID-19) with breast pumps and their accessories to help them maintain their breastfeeding due to its vital role in protecting their children from the contagious diseases and immunizing them, besides the positive impact of the breast milk on strengthening the relationship between mothers and their children, if there’s an urgency to isolate them from each other.

Cohesion between components of society

Eng. Khawla Al Noman, Head of Breastfeeding Friends Association, said that the initiative comes as part of the cohesion between all the components of the UAE society and the concerted efforts to help those infected with COVID-19 and to support them to overcome this ordeal and to restore their normal life.

“The Breastfeeding Friends, in accordance with the directives with Her Highness Sheikha Jawaher Bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of His Highness the Ruler of Sharjah and Chairperson of the Supreme Council for Family Affairs, seeks to promote the physical and mental health of children and mother through the cooperation and partnership with various public and private agencies to help spread the child-rearing tips and to maintain their health and safety via a lot of awareness-raising campaigns and initiatives,” she added.

Al Noman thanked the Breastfeeding clinic at the Family Health Promotion Center for its constant cooperation with the Association.
