The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (SCCI) revealed that registration is now open for the institutions and companies working in the field of training, qualification, employment, and management consultancy in the GCC countries to participate in the 6th Edition of GCC HR & Labor Market Conference, under the theme “Gulf Labor Market in Light of the Growth of the Digital Economy”.

The conference will be held under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah at Expo Centre Sharjah 14 – 15 October.

The conference, which is regarded as the largest forum for the private sector in the region, is organized by the SCCI in collaboration with the Secretariat General of the Gulf Cooperation Council, Federation of GCC Chambers and Arab Labor Organization.

A number of experts in the human resources and labor field, as well representatives of ministries, educational institutions and governmental and private economic institutions concerned with the development of human resources in the GCC countries will take part in the conference activities.

The Consistency between Conference Agenda and the Reality of Labor Market

Maryam Saif Al Shamsi, Assistant General Director, Support Services Sector of the SCCI, said: “The SCCI was keen to choose the titles of the conference sessions in accordance with the reality of labor market in the GCC countries, in order to achieve the sought-after goals and explore the challenges to help avoid them or find appropriate solutions, as well as to serve best interest of the Gulf societies and the state economy.”

Al Shamsi pointed out that the conference will be witnessing the organization of a panel discussion to be attended by an elite group of decision-makers across the GCC countries, entitled “Challenges and Opportunities of Gulf Job Localization in the Digital Economy Environment”.

She noted that the digital economy represents the keys to growth in various sectors, thanks to the competitive environment of information technology and communication in GCC countries in a bid to achieve innovation by encouraging competitiveness and progressing towards the knowledge industry.

Maryam Saif Al Shamsi added that the conference comes in line with the approach of the GCC system to bolster and stimulate political leaders, through governmental and specialized agencies and within the framework of a growing partnership with private business enterprises to develop the Gulf human resources and create the appropriate environment to take advantage of the possibilities and capabilities of those resources in various areas of work.

The Future of Entrepreneurship

“The conference’s first session will discuss the future of entrepreneurship in the digital economy, through three working papers reviewing future jobs, the role of the Arab League in this field, and the challenges of establishing and developing Gulf entrepreneurship projects,” explained Maryam Saif Al Shamsi.

A panel discussion will also be organized on how to harness the graduation projects of the academic institutions’ graduates.

The second session will be held under the title “Supporting Gulf Employment in the Knowledge Economy Markets”. This session aims at introducing participants to the best practices in creating opportunities for Gulf employment and private investment in the sectors of the knowledge economy

In addition to identifying the means of innovation and creativity in the markets of the executive knowledge of the future group, and the feasibility and how to activate the websites of Gulf employment.

Al Shamsi pointed out that panel discussions will also be organized on the sidelines of the conference bringing together a number of youth interested in the digital economy from various GCC countries to spot the challenges facing them.

In addition to reviewing successful experiences and discussing opportunities for joint cooperation. Also, an accompanying exhibition will be organized for the most successful experiences in the themes to be discussed by the conference. The exhibition will be kicked off before the start of events.
