At the 20th edition of the Thessaloniki International Book Fair (TIBF), Emirati folk performances captivated visitors, inviting them to explore the vibrant heritage of Sharjah. A major highlight of these performers was the Sharjah National Band, who enchanted the crowds with their spirited and colourful traditional performances, showcasing the enduring and prominent presence of UAE culture on the international stage.

Welcoming visitors with Emirati perfumes and aromatic Arabic coffee

During the book fair, the Sharjah Pavilion radiated Arab hospitality, greeting the many visitors with famous local perfumes, presented by women in traditional attire. Guests were also able to enjoy authentic Emirati Arabic coffee, and facilitated a unique cultural exchange between Arabs and Greeks in attendance.

 Celebrating Emirati heritage

The Sharjah Pavilion, TIBF’s guest of honour, served as a platform to engage with Greek visitors through a wide range of activities celebrating Emirati heritage. Female visitors were invited to experience traditional Emirati attire, made from the finest materials, adorned with intricate jewellery and henna, creating memorable moments captured by many through their lenses. The pavilion also showcased exquisitely crafted handmade items by skilled Emirati artisans, infusing a sense of authenticity and creativity into the space.

Promoting global cultural exchange

Through a diverse array of heritage activities, such as entertaining folk performances, immersive Arabic calligraphy workshops, and storytelling sessions, these activities brought ancient tales to life, and gave visitors a glimpse of Sharjah and the UAE. While showcasing the depth of Emirati heritage, the pavilion portrayed Sharjah as a vibrant cultural and artistic hub, underscoring its role in promoting international dialogue and global cultural exchange.
