Sharjah Performing Arts Academy (SPAA) a world-class performing arts powerhouse, offers students enriching and immersive learning experiences whilst studying at the academy. The Muscial Director and Musical Theatre Programme Director shared their insight into the programme, as well as their hopes for the students, how they approach the subject and much more.

Christopher Santillan, Musical Director, offered an overview of the Musical Theatre programme sharing his hopes that each and every student will leave their studies at SPAA with an in-depth understanding of how music works and all musical professions to equip them for their future careers. He goes on to highlight that the academy offers students a strong sense of music and musicality which are essential to future roles in the musical arts. Santillan offers an overview of how lessons work, and how the faculty like to offer experiences where students can apply everything that they learn and putting all taught elements to work. He goes on to mention that students are encouraged to make their own music from the skills that they hone during their teachings, and demonstrates how important this is. Programme Leader of Musical Theatre at SPAA, Paul Spicer, offered his insight into the Musical Theatre programme and how it shapes students for the vast world of musical theatre. He states that the musical theatre sphere celebrates uniqueness and that individuality is a strength. He shares that no matter where you are from or what training you have, SPAA helps students fine tune their skills to help them create a long and successful career in musical theatre. He states that the academy teaches students how to be highly skilles in singing, dancing and acting, all of which are the skills needed to be successful in the industry. He goes on to highlight that across the course, students will be given the opportunity to star in a number of full scale productions, fueling their confidence as performers and offering them real world experience.
