Incorporating the aesthetics of Arabic Diwani and Latin Gothic calligraphy, the emirate is engaging Arab and Latin cultures in an artistic dialogue during the Sharjah Guest of Honour celebrations at the 36th edition of the Guadalajara International Book Fair (FIL). Every day, hundreds of visitors rush to the Sharjah Department of Culture’s corner to meet Emirati calligrapher Khalid Al Jallaf and Mexican artist Sid Dawkins and have their names written in Arabic and Latin scripts.
