Sharjah for Capability Development (SCD), a subsidiary of Rubu’ Qarn Foundation for Creating Leaders and Innovators, announced that registration for the 11th edition of Sharjah Leadership Program (SLP) is now open. The program targets employees from public and private sectors in the UAE.

SLP aims to develop leadership skills of young Emirati employees and nurture their administrative experience in their respective field of specialisation. The program seeks to foster creativity in institutions, enhance innovative environment in Sharjah, and elevate leadership in all sectors.

SCD called on all institutions to send the CVs of their employees, who wish to enrol in the program, to the following e-mail: info@sharjahcd.ae. The deadline for receiving applications is December 13, 2018. The program does not require nominating a certain number of employees, given that all nominees should pass preliminary tests, and the nominated group will be chosen according to specific standards with transparency and professionalism considered in the selection process.

Saeed Ali Alhammadi, Director of Corporate Communication at SCD, said: “The SCD scaled up its efforts aimed at enhancing the capabilities of young Emiratis and honing their leadership skills. It aligns with the vision of the UAE and the Emirate of Sharjah that seeks to empower youth and offer them pioneering opportunities and advanced skills. The program contributes to strengthening the development process and sustaining UAE’s leading position in all fields.”

“The program encourages participants to acquire skills that help them at the personal and professional levels. It collaborates with leading international academic institutions that present remarkable management models. SLP also sheds light on the most inspiring experiences that harness modern technologies to elevate performance and develop practical solutions to work challenges,” he added.

Admission criteria:

SCD sets several standards to participate in SLP, most notably, all participants should have a five-year experience in their respective institutions and should pass certain tests.

The nominees should be UAE nationals, and several seats at the program are dedicated for residents who work at entities that sponsor the SLP.

The nominees should have a university degree or equivalent degrees, and should be 24-40 years old, with at least three years of practical experience. They should be directors of institutions or administrative departments in public or private sectors and should write and speak English proficiently. The nominees should also participate in the 10-day educational trip to Italy, which is a fundamental part of the program.

The 11th edition of the SLP will be held between January and May 2019, under the theme ‘Leading with Knowledge and Imagination’. It will be organised in a strategic partnership with Sharjah Environment Company (Bee’ah), and an academic partnership with Bocconi University in Italy and the American University of Sharjah.

The new edition of the program offers participants the opportunity to visit Bocconi University in Italy, which ranks seventh globally in executive education. This year’s edition comprises field visits to some of the largest institutions in Italy. Tailor-made visits will be organised to each participant in line with their professional specialisation, offering them international expertise and insights into the role of authentic cities in igniting creativity. After completing the program successfully, participants will obtain certificates accredited by Bocconi University and the American University of Sharjah.
