The Sharjah International Film Festival for Children & Youth (SIFF), under FUNN will be organising a virtual panel titled ‘Emirati animation: Beginnings and the future’ on Saturday, April 10, that will take a long hard look at the state of the animation industry in the UAE and its future prospects.

To be held on Zoom platform at 8 pm, the session which will be moderated by Emirati comedian Ammar Al Rahma, will host Emirati animator Mohammed Saeed Harib, creator and producer of the hit series FREEJ, and Fatma Almheiri, creator of Emara.

The Emirati speakers will shed light on their careers and discuss the trajectory of the local animation scene.

Almheiri,an animator at Vice Arabia and assistant director on the animation featureCatsaway, is creator of Emara, the popular Emirati female superhero character who fights crime on UAE’s streets.

Harib started his animation journey in 1998 when he enrolled in Boston’s Northeastern University to study General Arts and Animation. He is the founder and CEO of Lammtara Art Production and has won Best UAE Talent category award at the Dubai International Film Festival.

Ammar Al Rahma is an actor and influencer. He has also played leading roles in several films and presented several TV and radio shows.
