The Sharjah Chamber of Commerce and Industry organized an introductory seminar on the Sharjah Economic Excellence Network Award at the India Trade and Exhibition Centre Middle East. The seminar included the participation of 25 private companies operating in Sharjah and its free zones, in addition to a number of entrepreneurs.

During the seminar that was held recently under the theme of “Excellence is your path,” the chamber called upon the emirate’s private sector and entrepreneurs to participate in the new edition of the award in 2018, and to begin registering in the various categories of the award before the end of September.

Nada Al Hajri, General Coordinator of the Sharjah Economic Excellence Network Award, invited the local and gulf business communities to register in the award, in order to take advantage of the provided seminars and programs that promote a culture of institutional excellence and quality, which helps companies apply the best practices in the private sectors of the UAE and the Gulf region.

Al Hajri reviewed the importance of the award, which is based on the model of the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM), a comprehensive management model employed by more than 30,000 establishments around the world. She clarified that the award, which was launched in 2002, is one of the chamber’s initiatives that aims to promote corporate governance, encourage the adoption of quality standards, and foster the responsibility of the private sector towards the community, in addition to encouraging environmentally friendly practices, and enhancing the role of economic institutions in promoting sustainable development.

She stated that the award aims to honour organizations from both the public and private sectors that apply the best environmentally friendly practices in all areas which improve operations and provide access to environmentally friendly products. She added that the prize also aims to target enterprises from the public and private sectors that have developed a system which addresses key pillars of social responsibility such as the community and the environment, in addition to honouring companies that employ the highest number of citizens at the GCC level, in partnership with Federation of the GCC Chambers.

She expressed her thanks and gratitude to the India Trade and Exhibition Centre Middle East for its cooperation with the Sharjah chamber in organizing this event and for encouraging establishments in Sharjah that are owned by investors and businesspeople from the Indian community to participate in the award.
