In celebration of the UAE’s 46th National Day. Al Qasba, Sharjah’s premier tourist, family and leisure destination, is hosting an array of entertainment activities designed to foster patriotism and a love for the country. Taking place on Friday and Saturday (December 1 & 2), the programme has been designed in conjunction with Al Qasba’s commitment to observe with its visitors all national, religious and social events that are held in the UAE throughout the year.
Staged along Al Qasba’s walkways in front of Block A building and taking place from 5pm -10pm each day of the weekend, the schedule features performances and shows that include Al Ayallah traditional dancing, also known as ‘Yowalah,’ an Emirati Hospitality Corner that will be serving popular traditional Emirati food and a Henna Corner that will offer beautifully decorative skin patterns for girls and women.
Since its launch last year, the Sharjah International Photography Festival, Xposure, has been a major influence in disseminating the best of world photography, and played the role of a springboard for contemporary creative talents in photography in the UAE and the larger Arab region.
The second edition of Xposure has been even more successful in adding value to the insights and experiences of both professionals and emerging talents, who flocked in by the hundreds and made the most of the Festival’s rich photo exhibitions, informative workshops, engaging talks, and latest photography merchandise.
“There is no image without a story”, said the world acclaimed street photographer Vineet Vohra, addressing a room full of aspiring street photographers in a jam-packed workshop titled ‘How To Street’ at Xposure 2017.
The Delhi-based photographer was hosting a workshop on intricacies of Street Photography at the International Photography Festival held at Sharjah Expo Centre.
The two-and-a-half-day intensive workshop was tailor-made to cater to the needs of participants who wished to train their eyes to know what makes a good street shot. Vohra, who is considered among the top 20 street photographers in the world, explained the use of camera and manual, shutter and aperture priority modes in some on-the-spot evaluation sessions.

The second edition of the International Festival of Photography saw an exemplary display of India’s geographic and cultural landscapes during a session titled ‘We Connect’ by photographers of PhotoWalk Dubai.
One of the most attended sessions of Xposure 2017, ‘We Connect’, was woven into a flowing story of five elements that form the universe, namely, Space, Water, Air, Earth and Fire with the help of short presentations made by the photographers.

If you remember the iconic images of Ewan McGregor and cast for the “Trainspotting” ad campaign, Agius is the man behind it. It is what he began his career with 20 years ago. He has had a long and colourful affair with celebrities over the past two decades.

Sony Middle East and Africa today announced an impressive addition to their full-frame mirrorless camera line-up, the α7R III (model ILCE-7RM3) at the second edition of the prestigious Xposure International Photography Festival that is underway at the Sharjah Expo Centre from 22-25 November 2017.
The company also unveiled new additions to its flagship cameras including the ultra-compact, robust and waterproof RX0 (model name: DSC-RX0) and the latest model from the RX10 line – the RX10IV (model name: DSC-RX10M4). One of the most important works launched and being exhibited at Xposure 2017 is the ‘Faces of Sharjah’ by award-winning photographer Muhammed Muheisen. The 12-image collection remained the centre of attraction during the first day of the International Photography Festival organised by Sharjah Government Media Bureau (SGMB) running at the Expo Centre Sharjah.
Muhammed Muheisen, who is a two-time Pulitzer Prize-winning photojournalist, has been documenting the refugee crisis around the world for over a decade and is the founder of Everyday Refugees Foundation.
The collection is of portraits of people of different nationalities who have made Sharjah their home. It captures the moments, natural sceneries and inspiring architecture for which Sharjah is known. One of the pictures is of a 30-year-old Pakistani bank employee enjoying a sunset with his family at Al Khan in Sharjah, showing the multi-cultural side of the city.
Aspiring and emerging photographers who participated in Rick Friedman’s “Location Lighting” workshop, embarked on a journey of experiential insights for mastering the art of photography in a diverse lighting atmosphere.
The workshop, which kicked off during the first day of Xposure 2017, the International Photography Festival organised by Sharjah Government Media Bureau from Nov 22-25 at Expo Centre Sharjah, offered participants a hands-on experience of location lighting, as needed for portraits, events and corporate photography. As part of this workshop, participants joined Friedman for night-time and early morning photography sessions, thereby acquiring new skills in balancing colours and focus shots under different lighting situations.
